Forte dei Marmi
Forte dei Marmi
Sea and culture: this is the combination that best describes the characteristics of Forte dei Marmi, which has always been one of the most famous touristic centers of the Tuscan coast.
A city rich in history, Forte dei Marmi began to expand steadily from the sixteenth century. After the construction of the fort in 1788, hence the name, in the nineteenth century began to become that beautiful sea resort that we all know, where nobles, diplomats, businessmen, artists and celebrities have built their splendid villas .
In addition to the beauty of its beaches and of its historic center, Forte dei Marmi is also famous for its festivals and its markets.Worth a note are the great fair to S.Ermete (patron saint of the city), which takes place the 28th of August from 7:00 am to midnight, and the famous weekly market, held every Wednesday from 8.00 to 13.30.
It is not only the sea, however, to be a leader in Forte dei Marmi. The hinterland is, in fact, rich in history, culture and ancient traditions. And for those who love high life, the town center is full of restaurants, clubs, shops and fashion boutiques that attract tourists like the most famous cities of art.
